Nest Design
Lucy Bathurst, founder of Nest Design, has been commissioned to create curtains and blinds for well-known individuals and spaces, including the new Spring restaurant at Somerset House. She specialises in reinventing vintage fabrics, such as lace and tapestry, to create curtains, blinds, headboards and cushions (see picture). ‘She may be my sister, but she really is talented and it’s not just me who thinks so,’ says ELLE Decoration’s photography director Flora Bathurst.

Pickwick Papers
This family-run business sells made-to-measure curtains, blinds and wallpapers. Its owner has an in-depth knowledge of William Morris fabrics, so don’t be afraid to ask if you’re looking for a specific historic design. There’s a six-week lead time from ordering to hanging your curtains, but it’s worth the wait.

Sian Colley
Customised fabrics are key to finishing a home, says Another Country’s Paul de Zwart. He recommends North London-based specialist Sian Colley, who has the experience and the eye to help you choose the right curtains.
