CABINS IN THE WOODS

November 3, 2014 / OLD news posts

There’s something liberating about spending quality time with nature. Forest Holidays offers comfy wood cabins in nine locations across the UK where you can do just that. The hideaway retreats are all situated in the heart of the forest – the company runs in partnership with the forestry commission, ensuring that these unique locations, including the Forest of Dean and Sherwood Forest, are protected. Each location has its own ethos and runs a range of activities. You can go for long walks, cycle on forest trails, try fishing or horse riding, test out your archery skills or learn about woodland survival techniques. When you return from a hard day’s exploring, Forest Holidays’ wood cabins are the perfect place to relax. I went to the newly opened site of Cropton, just four miles from the historic village of Pickering (the site of Hogsmeade in the Harry Potter films) in the North Yorkshire moors. There’s very little phone signal, but the cabins do include modern appliances and in some cases even the luxury of a hot tub on the terrace – take in the amazing view while you soak. The decor is modern, yet in keeping with the countryside surroundings. From £435 for a mid-week break (forestholidays.co.uk)
