Stained-glass windows don’t just belong in churches. They can also make a beautiful feature in the home, as this example by Scandinavian design company Bolia proves.
Start by cleaning your windows thoroughly to remove any dust and dirt and leave to dry fully. Next, invest in some coloured films: the Window Film Company offers a range of colourways, with self-adhesive film sold by the metre or cut to size (from £30 per metre; windowfilm.co.uk). If want to keep your space luminous, choose super-tint or transparent films rather than security film, which can block out light. Most companies offer an installation service for an extra cost, but half the fun of this project lies in experimenting with cutting shapes and mixing colours – so why not try taking a DIY approach?
