FILM ART AT SOMERSET HOUSE

This summer sees London’s Somerset House once again become the setting for a season of cinema. As well as hosting the tenth anniversary season of Film 4 Summer Screen – an annual series of open-air sunset screenings – the venue is collaborating with Print Club London to launch an exhibition of screen-printed film posters.

Each of the 16 exhibiting artists has designed a limited-edition contemporary poster for one of the classic films shown, drawing inspiration from a particular scene, line or character. Among the highlights are Rose Blake’s tribute to ET (voted the public’s favourite film from a selection of the past decade’s cinematic highlights), Concepción Studios’ design for The Royal Tenenbaums and Cassandra Yap’s reimagined artwork for Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. The prints cost £45 each and are exclusive to Somerset House and Print Club London.
