Christian Lacroix is one of the most famous names in fashion, up there alongside other iconic French designers such as Coco Chanel and Christian Dior. Best known for opulent colours, elaborate beading and fringing, the design house has now turned its attention to dressing homes as well as their owners.
In a move that will excite fans of the fashion label, Maison Christian Lacroix has partnered with fellow French design expert Schmidt to create a unique digitally printed pattern, Prête-Moi Ta Plume. Capturing the characteristic flair and colour of the label, it allows homeowners to bring a stylish yet affordable personal touch to kitchens, bedrooms or living areas.
Designs for modern living
As our homes have evolved to match the way our lifestyles have changed over recent years (not least the move towards more flexible working arrangements), Schmidt has led the way in creating made-to-measure solutions to suit every kind of home adjustment, from offices and dressing rooms to broken-plan living spaces perfect for families. Its range of fittings are guaranteed to within the nearest millimetre and come in multiple height, width and depth options, as well as an impressive range of 2,000 colour combinations and finishes.

An expert in personalising living spaces, the manufacturer also understands that the home is yet another form of self-expression, with your chosen interior aesthetic a reflection of personal style. Which is why the collaboration with Maison Christian Lacroix makes so much sense.
Kitchen flair
Part of a collection of 20 prints, the feather-themed Prête-Moi Ta Plume, which translates as ‘lend me your pen’ (or quill), is Schmidt’s second collaboration with Maison Christian Lacroix. Thanks to its adaptable format, it can be used in many different forms across multiple types of rooms, from decorative touches on one or two units to large surface areas.
In a kitchen, for example, it works brilliantly around a central island to form a stunning centrepiece. Paired with a neutral colour like navy, the decadent pattern brings a burst of personality to a classic design. It comes in two thicknesses, with the 19mm ideal for bespoke panels, swing doors, pull-out doors and deep drawers, and an 8mm that lends itself perfectly to splashbacks and open units.
Pretty in pink
The design is not confined to the kitchen, however. It can even be used within open shelving units as back panels – a clever way to create depth in a hallway or study. Or, if you’re looking to create impact in a bedroom or detail to a dressing room, Prête-Moi Ta Plume is a great ready-made way to add interest on sliding or swing doors on wardrobes and cabinets, especially set against the pastel pink of La Vie en Rose, one of 26 additional micron lacquer colours available.
As Tamara Heller of Schmidt UK says of the collaboration, ‘it allows homeowners to create an interior full of personality and fun… working beautifully in kitchens, open-plan living, bedrooms, dressing areas, hallways and home offices, creating a flamboyant yet sophisticated look.’
