Often dubbed ‘the jewel in the crown of the Salone del Mobile’, SaloneSatellite returns to Rho Fiera for the 14th edition between 8 and 13 April. Launched by Marva Griffin (who is still curator) in 1988 as a platform to spotlight young talent (aged under 35), the exhibition gives the brightest design stars of the next generation the opportunity to introduce their work to an international audience.

Its success can be measured by the vast number of international designers including Ini Archibong, Sebastian Herkner and Cristina Celestino, who have made a name for themselves after using SaloneSatellite as a springboard. Many of their products have gone into production following the exhibition.

This year it is set to take place in Halls 5 and 7, with a layout designed by Ricardo Bello Dias in collaboration with Hariadna Pinate. 700 selected designers from 36 countries, 20 design schools and universities from 14 countries will investigate and re-imagine the universe of the handmade under the theme ‘New Craftsmanship: A New World’.

Filippo Andrighetto won second prize at last year’s SaloneSatellie Awards with ‘Veliero’

Each year, the Salone Satellite Award rewards three of the most deserving projects. Past winners have included Norwegian designer Daniel Rybakken and Copenhagen-based architect Filippo Andrighetto for his ‘Veliero’ bookcase, which is pictured above. The designers for this edition have been selected by an expert panel comprising leading figures from the fields of design, architecture, media and education and will be presented on 9 April at 3pm at the SaloneSatellite Arena.

Alongside Salone del Mobile’s extensive design conversations schedule, SaloneSatellite will host two separate talks. On 10 April at 3pm, American artist Robert Wilson visits and greets the young SaloneSatellite 2025 designers followed by a talk by Alberto Cavalli, the general director of the Cologni Foundation for the Métiers d’Artand general curator on ‘Beauty: made by humans for humans’.
