Kvadrat is known for its innovative approach, so when creative director Isa Glink began to conceive of the theme for the brand’s new collection of curtains and rugs, ‘Frequency’, she sought out people who do things differently, collaborating with Meyers and Fügmann and Katrin Greiling.
At the ELLE Decoration Design Discussion during 3 Days of Design (19 June at 11am in Kvadrat’s Nordhavn showroom, see below for more details) you can hear all about the design process and big ideas behind the collection, as Glink joins a conversation with our Editor-in-Chief Ben Spriggs. For now, here’s a taster of the original ideas at play…
‘The concept behind the collection is rooted in the idea that change is constant, so we chose to explore how frequencies of colour shift and evolve through light, visual motion and materiality,’ explains Glink. ‘The curtains and rugs in this collection shift and resonate in sensual, surprising ways.’

It’s not just the patterns in this collection that push boundaries, though. The textiles themselves are quietly revolutionary. ‘Our focus lies in integrating pioneering material technologies in spinning, weaving, printing and dyeing,’ says Glink who, with ‘Frequency’, introduces a recycled Trevira CS yarn that is produced using only post-industrial waste – its anionic and cationic fibres (one has a negative charge, the other positive) interact with dyes in their own ways, absorbing colours in different intensities.
