Say goodbye to clean, minimalist lines and hello to thick, knotted silhouettes
From Moooi’s ‘Knitty’ chair (above) to Studiopepe’s ‘Shibari’ for Visionnaire, knotted seats were spotted everywhere at Milan Design Week this year. The trend is an obvious rejection of the clean, minimalist lines that have dominated design in recent years and is a return to something a little more unconventional and childlike – think colourful, oversized-crochet stitch and cartoonishly large squiggles. Mimic the look with soft furnishings that just won’t come undone and hanging pendant lights that are all in a tangle.
