On the morning, back in May 2022, when Stefania Passera was handed a flyer with ‘laboratorio vendesi’ (workshop for sale) written on it and a phone number, she had a feeling it was going to be an auspicious day.
Within half an hour of calling that number she had stepped, for the first time, into the former elevator factory in Milan that would become not just her home, but also the base for her interior-design brand, Nap Atelier.
Leaving the industrial space’s concrete floor, as well as its exposed pipes, untouched, she set about creating an interior that would reflect her audacious approach to decorating. ‘My philosophy,’ says Stefania, ‘is to encourage clients to follow their imaginations, leading them to make choices – sometimes a little daring – that they would not have had the courage to make without our help.’

She prides herself on a fearlessness when it comes to wallpapers, fabrics and colours, and her home stands as an example of what can be achieved if you throw away your design inhibitions. From reupholstered furniture to custom-made and vintage pieces finished in a paintbox- array of bold shades, she has ensured that, in her words, ‘every corner, every detail, vibrates with its own energy.’ napatelier.com
