This house is pure luxury squared. Pulso Estudio, in collaboration with PR Arquitectura and Ivette Berrondo, transformed it into a tribute to wood with a design that, in their words, ‘moves between fine finishes, contemporary style and classic touches.’ The goal of the comprehensive renovation was to achieve ‘the utmost care in every space to develop a high-quality duplex living experience.’
To this end, the house was divided into a daytime area and a private area, with the former on the ground floor and the latter on the upper floor. This is where the bedrooms and bathrooms are concentrated, facing the interior courtyard to ensure peace and privacy, while the social areas below are open ‘to the unique and generous natural light of the facade’.
The ground floor is also the stage where wood displays its full expressive potential. Vertical surfaces, furniture and architectural elements are integrated into a continuous language that envelops the space. The herringbone oak parquet flooring sets the visual rhythm of the entire home and connects the different rooms with a warm and coherent cadence.

The kitchen, designed by Bulthaup, is a restrained and elegant volume, with a central island clad in dark-toned natural stone that contrasts with the honey-coloured timber panels surrounding it. The ensemble is completed with soft, focused lighting, arranged in wall sconces and fixtures, eliminating ceiling lights to achieve a more intimate atmosphere.
The dining room flows seamlessly into the kitchen, designed as an enveloping space. A large oval table in natural wood is accompanied by a bench upholstered in a neutral fabric and light chairs with rounded lines.
The walls are covered with textile panels in warm tones that soften the acoustics and add chromatic depth. All the built-in furniture, from the shelves to the wardrobes, was custom-designed by Tecta, who were also responsible for all the interior carpentry.
The living room takes full advantage of the natural light that enters through the original windows and the restored wrought iron and glass gallery – a gesture that pays homage to traditional Madrid architecture.
In this room, the designers combine the solidity of fine materials with the lightness of indirect lighting that enhances the texture of the wood. A modular sofa with clean lines, a wool rug and a leather-upholstered chaise lounge define the ambience.
The staircase, with its metalwork and wooden steps, acts as a sculptural element and connector between the two floors. Its curved design and gently sloping railing provide an organic counterpoint to the geometric rigour of the walls. Its presence can be felt from any point in the house, like an axis that structures the project.
Upstairs, wood once again takes centre stage, but in a more intimate and serene way. The main bedroom features a restrained design: integrated headboard and bedside tables, built-in wardrobes with concealed handles and carefully chosen indirect lighting highlight the texture of the materials.
In the bathrooms, natural stone is combined with Icónico faucets and sanitaryware with clean lines, maintaining the overall aesthetic coherence. pulsoestudio.es, ivetteberrondo.com
