With London’s heatwave summer continuing, there has never been a better time to dine al fresco. And perhaps the best place for that is Colbert, the Sloane Square café that has long brought the charms of Parisian bistros to the streets of the UK capital. This summer, it’s terrace is the place to be, thanks to a collaboration with Parisian fabric house Manuel Canovas.
Part of the Colefax & Fowler group, the storied fabric house has swapped out Colbert’s recognisable burgundy awnings in favour of its ‘Coromandel’ pattern – a bold, opulent floral design that sets the tone for a summer spent outdoors enjoying the finer things in life.
The collaboration will be in place until September, so there is plenty of time to enjoy the revamped terrace, with Manuel Canovas having upholstered the bench seating and chairs in its patterns and adding cushions that bring to mind exotic locations.

The two brands – Colbert and Manuel Canovas – have shared inspirations, both looking to history and travel to create fabrics, dishes and cocktails.
The latter are another highlight of this collaboration. Head Bartender Gia Zarandia has taken the opportunity to create a limited-edition menu of tipples influenced by the floral patterns. These include the Porto Tónico and Daisy Spritz, as well as, of course, Pommery Champagne by the bottle and by the glass. colbertrestaurant.com
