In line with its 75th birthday, Minotti has released a short film that reveals its 2023 furniture collection in five celestial environments, from an apartment in the mountains to a sprawling urban penthouse in the city. Through dreamy cinematography, the six-minute film highlights how versatile the furniture is, as well as how each piece is interconnected and stylistically Minotti.

‘Wherever you go in the world, the taste and collections of the brand express themselves in a language that is universal,’ said Italian furniture brand Minotti. ‘Magical places that offer a warm welcome to both the design of the furnishing pieces of the 2023 collection and the grand classics of Minotti, capable of easily and harmoniously blending into residential and hospitality settings.’

The collection is split between indoor and outdoor furniture, with both facets ‘encapsulating the feeling of a long journey’. Each piece takes inspiration from multiple cultures and has been crafted by designers from all over the world – among them are Marcio Kogan of studio mk27, Nendo, GamFratesi, Inoda+Sveje and Gordon Guillaumier.

Key pieces include a chunky chair called ‘Sally’ (below) by Rodolfo Dordoni, which takes cues from modernist architecture. Its base consists of a metal cylinder available with a bronze or polished chrome finish and the seat on top can be swivelled or rotated, making it a flexible and playful addition to the series.

Elsewhere in the film, Brazilian architect studio MK27’s ‘Superblocks’ sideboard is depicted in a minimalist set. Constructed from either wood or glossy lacquer, the item comes in different finishes and can be slotted into a dining room just as easily as it can in a living room thanks to its decorative and functional qualities.

The range toes the line between tradition and innovation and makes use of what the brand describes as ‘couturier-derived manufacturing techniques’ that draw on Minotti’s rich manufacturing experience.

‘A constant balance between classicism and contemporaneity, organic lines and solid volumes in which softness and texture become one,’ is how Minotti describes the collection. ‘The real challenge is to integrate history and then present it in a new version, creating pieces that are capable of reassuring as well as surprising.’

The collection was first unveiled earlier this year at Milan Design Week in a verdant installation by Minotti at the colossal furniture fair Salone del Mobile. Here, furniture was displayed along a pathway in the exhibition hall. The central aisle was conceived as a real boulevard, lined with large areas of greenery and shrubbery that recalled the bucolic Mediterranean landscapes. minotti.com
