Legendary Paris couture house Rabanne has collaborated with H&M Home on a series of homeware and furniture designed to dazzle, just in time for the party season. Synonymous with retro glamour, Rabanne’s pieces are, as expected, made with alluringly shiny materials and bold prints. ‘Renowned since the 1960s for radically futuristic creations in plastic and metal, today Rabanne remains at the forefront of cutting-edge design and contemporary craft,’ says H&M Home.
With just under thirty pieces of furniture, lighting, accessories, loungewear and soft furnishings, Rabanne H&M Home is the brand’s largest designer collection to date. Highlights include a silver sequinned room divider reminiscent of Rabanne’s ‘Space Curtain’, which was originally released in the 1960s. Both dividers have echoes of the brand’s signature chainmail dresses – a mark of the company’s effort to reinstate its heritage within contemporary interiors. Elsewhere, a stainless steel bar table shines, while plush organic cotton soft furnishings exude luxury.
The collaboration is the latest in a string of high-profile partnerships that have seen the likes of designer Jonathan Adler, Paris-based architect and designer India Mahdavi, and Amélie Riech’s hit jewellery brand Uncommon Matters create successful collections. Its launch will coincide with Rabanne’s new line of menswear and womenswear for the high street retailer H&M.

‘I wanted to embellish the lifestyle element of the ready-to-wear collection to incorporate home décor items that complemented the luxurious mood of enjoyment,’ explains creative director of Rabanne Julien Dossena. ‘There’s a fantastic silver lamp, for instance, that shimmers like the Paillette party dresses, offering an innovative take on a Rabanne icon.’
It’s a collection that would no doubt make the late Rabanne founder proud – one that will stand the test of time and become a staple for homeware collectors. ‘While this was my first experience designing homeware and objects, our founder Paco Rabanne designed some emblematic metallic furniture in the 1970s, so this interiors collection felt like an authentic extension for the house,’ adds Dossena.
Rabanne H&M Home launches in selected stores and online on 9 November. Set your calendar reminder now.
